Government Review Commission Plans More Statewide Meetings;
Invites Citizens to Comment

JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri State Government Review Commission recently completed a series of fact-finding meetings with state department directors and heard from interest groups in Capitol public hearings. The Commission also traveled to St. Louis, St. Joseph and Kansas City to give Missourians the opportunity to express their opinions about state government. Three more public hearings across the state are planned this month in Springfield, Cape Girardeau and Kirksville.

Gov. Matt Blunt established the Commission to examine the executive departments from top-to-bottom and to make recommendations on how state government can address inefficiencies, achieve cost savings and provide better service. The last major government reorganization effort was in 1974.

"In recent months scores of experts and interest groups have expressed their views to us in Jefferson City," Steven Bradford, Commission Co-chair said. "Now we want to meet with the general public throughout the state to hear their views."

The Commission's upcoming public hearing schedule follows.

Date Time Hearing Information
